Hey Empire Builders,

Welcome to this week’s Franchise Empire Newsletter, where we share specific franchise opportunities that we think are interesting, and examples of everyday folks building their empires.

Want to keep up with our latest newsletters?

Let’s talk about probably the single most important skill you’ll need to build a thriving business empire.

It’s annoyingly simple, but actually doing it is harder than it looks.

This concept really started to stick out to me after my wife and I got married.

She had already been a successful entrepreneur with a thriving business going on more than 10 years.

I was obviously proud of her, and really looked up to her for what she had built, but to be honest… At the same time I felt a little envious.

I REALLY wanted to have a business I called my own, that was able to support us financially. I wanted out of the 9 to 5 world.

And there was one thing she was doing that helped make her so successful that I started to pick up on. I realized that I was really BAD at it and she was really good at it.

It was her speed of execution.

Meaning, the moment you have an idea or think…

“I should do that”

“I want to do that”

“I need to do that”

“That’s a good idea”… or really anything along those lines

You do it ASAP.

The amount of time it took me to complete OR even start something was much longer than it took her.

With simple things too. Instead of putting something on the floor she would put it away where it belonged.

Instead of waiting until the morning to send the email or make the phone call, she would do it right now.

I learned that this was a huge part of why my businesses had failed prior to franchising.. I procrastinated the hell out of things.

I’ll leave you with this to bring this concept home…

Here’s the scenario.

You and I are in the same exact business industry. We both get the same idea, we are both busy, and we both have similar financial resources.

Meaning we experience the same fear, doubt, uncertainty, and have access to the same resources, etc…

But I execute on that idea today, and you put it on your list and do it a week from now.

Who do you think will be more successful?

Exactly. I will.

Not because I’m special, or smarter than you. It’s just because I executed FIRST.

So whatever it is that you think you “should do” or “need to do”.

Do it TODAY. At least get the ball rolling.

So if you’ve been thinking about owning a business for a long time now…

What are you waiting for?

FEATURED RESALE

budget-blinds

Franchise resales possess many benefits for aspiring business owners – established cash flow, experienced employees, systems in place, and brand awareness to name a few.

This week, our featured resale comes from one of the more well-established brands in the industry: Budget Blinds. Budget Blinds, established in 1996, boasts more than 1,200 franchise units throughout the United States. They are industry leaders in providing high quality window coverings to consumers in a convenient way and at prices that fit almost every budget.

Elmhurst, IL (Chicago Suburb)

  • Started in 2012

  • Owner is retiring and has been running it as an owner/operator model

  • Provide both residential and commercial window treatments

  • Asking price of $490,000 (third-party business valuation is pending)

  • Vehicle included in sale

  • Subcontractors in place; owner does the sales and manages the subs

Franchise Empire’s Take:

  • On the surface, this appears to be an underperforming territory with potential to grow. According to the Budget Blinds 2022 FDD, the average unit volume (AUV) for disclosed franchise locations with one territory was $905,302.
  • Great territory in the Chicago area market; coop advertisement in place with other owners in the area

  • Budget Blinds is one of the best brands in the industry, and is a service-based opportunity, which tends to allow for a fast ramp-up with potential to scale.

CLIENT CASE STUDY

Josh is the perfect example of speed of execution. He came to us having been a wildland firefighter, but his son got sick and he needed to be close to home and available in case anything went down.

He not only followed the system to a T, but he was always decisive and moved with confidence.

He started lining up his pipeline for clients before he even signed his franchise agreement.

So he got off to a fast start with his business because of that.

Check out his story and Journey below.
